Ministry Background
Tim and Lois joined Wycliffe Bible Translators in 1986 and served in Yaounde, Cameroon until 1989. Tim served in computer support, and Lois in finance and vehicle maintenance.
From 1989 to 1996, their mission field was N’Djamena, Chad, where they opened and set up administrative offices for the infrastructure to restart the work of SIL in Chad. The purpose of SIL International (formerly known as the Summer Institute of Linguistics) is to work with language communities worldwide to facilitate language-based development through research, translation, and literacy.
In 1996 the Hunters moved to Waxhaw, North Carolina to work at the JAARS Center, supporting Bible translation projects around the world.
Ministry Update
Tim and Lois changed responsibilities at Wycliffe Bible Translators in the Spring of 2001. They are now on staff with the Jungle Jump Off (JJO) program at the JAARS center. JJO is a summer program for youth groups to come learn about missions and be exposed first hand to missionaries and their work. They spent the summer challenging young people (15 different youth groups) to consider whether God is calling them to missions.
Off-season work includes speaking in churches on behalf of JAARS/Wycliffe, sharing about Bible translation and challenging people to be involved in some way.
Praises
Praise God for improved health for Lois.
Pray for Their Ministry
Please pray for God to raise up more personnel in all aspects of the Bible translation task.
Pray for Those They Serve
Please pray that Tim and Lois would communicate effectively with the youth they work with in the Jungle Jump Off program, so they will be challenged to become involved in missions.
Pray for Them
Please pray for their three oldest children who are in college. Pray that they will have good friends, good church fellowship, safety, good time management, and finances for expenses. Pray for Daniel, who is beginning to consider future education and career goals.
