Ministry Background
Bob came to Christ through the Navigators’ ministry at the Air Force Academy, and began to learn how to disciple others. He was involved with The Navigators’ student and community ministry while teaching math in Clayton County for six years. Bob and Patty spent three years with The Navigators in Kenya, from 1981 to 1984, working full time with high school student ministry. They returned to Atlanta where Bob taught and went to graduate school for two years while Patty worked at Coca-Cola International.
The Meredith’s were involved with The Navigators in the Atlanta community. After three more years of training in university ministry at UGA, they went to Zambia as full time staff in 1989.
Ministry Update
Bob and Patty minister to students on the University of Zambia campus, where they have discipled many graduates and helped them make the change from campus life to life in the community. In 2000 they were asked to lead a “transition group” with 12 new graduates and eight seniors to investigate “real life” issues according to Scripture, such as choosing a mate, ethics in the workplace, and financial and time management.
The Meredith’s came to Atlanta in August 2001 for a three-month Home Ministry Assignment. They immediately traveled to Colorado to a Navigators missions conference where they met with Navigators missionaries from all over the world and heard what God is doing in theft lives.
Praises
Praise God that Bob and Patty have been able to make a contribution in the lives of the Zambian Navigator staff during theft training for the past three years, and to see them becoming effective ministers of the Gospel of God’s grace in all its truth. Praise God for His faithful provision for the Merediths.
Pray for Their Ministry
Please pray that God will continue breaking down strongholds as non-Biblical traditions are being replaced with God’s principles from the Bible, not only in the lives of the young “transitioners” but in their families as well.
Pray for Them
Please pray for Patty’s health, as she copes with Parkinson’s disease. Pray that she would adjust quickly to the new medicine she is taking, and that it would be effective. Pray for their daughter Emily as she considers universities for next year. Pray that God will provide the finances to meet their ministry and living expenses, and school fees for theft children.
