Ministry Background
Jim felt God’s call to the mission field in 1989 while on a two-week missions trip to Quito, Ecuador. He was accepted by MTW/Impact and returned for two years as an assistant church planter. During this time he sensed that this was where God wanted him, and he returned to the States to transition to career missionary with MTW. Jim returned to Quito in 1993 and met Caty in 1994.
Caty is a native of Quito and grew up in a typical Roman Catholic home. She came to know the Lord through the ministry of Fountain of Life Presbyterian Church in Quito while working as a nutritionist with Nabisco/Royal.
Ministry Update
Jim and Caty have served in Guayaquil, Ecuador, for the past term. Caty served as team administrator and treasurer and led several Bible studies. Jim was assistant leader of the church planting team and coordinated the evangelism and theological education ministry of the team.
The Tates have been on Home Ministry Assignment in the United States this year. When they return to Ecuador in December 2001, Jim will become the church planting team leader Caty will pursue her call to begin a crisis pregnancy center as well as carrying out other ministries.
Praises
Jim and Caty have been on the road most of the time since they returned to the States, and although this is tiring, it has been a time to be refreshed and nurtured in the Word of God and to make new friendships. Theft children, Philip and Eliana, made a good adjustment to the changes, and they are very good travelers. The Tates are thankful to the Lord for His provision for them in every aspect.
Pray for Their Ministry
Please pray that God will give Jim and Caty wisdom in making plans and leading the team during their next term in Ecuador.
Pray for Those They Serve
Please pray that God will continue to build His church in Guayaquil.
Pray for Them
Please pray for good health and travel mercies for the Tates while they are in the United States. Pray for their faithfulness to the Lord and continuing spiritual growth. Pray that God would provide the finances they need to return to the field fully supported.
