NEW INQUIRER’S CLASS We will begin a new
Inquirer’s Class soon during the Sunday School hour. Those interested
in learning more about Midway or becoming a member are invited to
attend. Please contact the church office for details. Welcome
to Midway Presbyterian Church, particularly to our Sunday School. The
purpose of Midway Church is to worship God, to glorify His name, and to
make disciples by equipping God’s people to be Students of God’s word,
Servants of Christ and one another, Sowers of the message of truth, and
Stewards of their gifts, time, talents, and resources. We seek to
fulfill this goal through our adult Sunday School program. We offer
several adult classes to meet various needs. Below are Links to the
class pages which contain brief descriptions of these classes, as well
as descriptions of our youth classes, and the locations of the
children’s classes: Spring Quarter (Mar 2008 - May
2008)

“Now these were more noble minded than those
in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness,
examining the Scriptures daily, to see whether these things were so.”
Berean The Berean class describes
itself as follows: “We have a unique group in
that our age runs the gamut from the three score and ten plus right
down to those in their twenties. We have the young Christian to the
mature Christian. We have the young couples with families and middle
aged with families. We have grandfathers and grandmothers with lots of
grandkids. We have the great singles too. New Christian or old
Christian, young or old, single, or married, you will be right at home.
We are friendly people that are easy to love and will return it too. We
are a people that love God’s word. Our teacher - Paul VanNortwick -
makes the lesson interesting and applicable to life as it is today.
We are structured to allow plenty of time for your input and
discussion. Your opinions and comments are important and always
welcome. We plan frequent socials that facilitate fellowship. We
organize a vital prayer fellowship that operates throughout the week.
You will have the opportunity to join hands with other class members in
using your precious God given gifts and talents.” Present
Study: The Berean class is studying The Gospel of
John. Those not already involved in an Adult Sunday
School we invite you to join us in Room F-4 in the Fellowship Hall.

“If we say that we have fellowship with Him
and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth; but
if we walk in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the
blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all our sin.” Fellowship
Overview: Our fellowship is
indicative of our walk, and the Fellowship Class is concerned that the
people of God evidence a true fellowship with Christ through their
daily walk. The Fellowship Class is our largest, but through fellowship
with one another, they maintain the mentality of a small class.
Age Group: The composition of the
Fellowship Class is couples and singles from age 30 and up.
Teachers: The Bible study is taught by a
rotation of teachers: Warren Jackson, Brian Lawrence, Allen Scott, James Scott and
Jeff Talley. Present Study: The
Fellowship Class is studying 1st Timothy, 2nd Timothy and Titus.
“But grow in the grace and knowledge of our
Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” Grace
Sinners need grace. It is God’s saving grace that regenerates
hearts and enables sinners to receive Jesus Christ. It is because of
God’s saving grace that sinners are declared holy and blameless in
Jesus Christ. Without God’s saving grace, sinners would never come to
repentance and faith, trusting in Jesus Christ alone for their
salvation. Saved sinners need grace. Being a
Christian means more than professing to be one. Being a Christian means
being a disciple of Jesus Christ. A true disciple of Jesus Christ will
become more like Him. A true disciple of Jesus Christ will pursue
holiness. This pursuit of holiness requires total dependence on God’s
transforming grace. Without God’s transforming grace, it is impossible
to become more like Jesus and live in the power of the gospel.
Recognizing our total dependence on God’s grace, members of
the Grace Class desire to feed on God’s Word, our infallible rule of
faith and practice, in order grow together in the grace and knowledge
of the Lord Jesus Christ. The Grace Class is made up of singles and
couples of various ages. The Grace Class meets in the Sanctuary.
Present Study: The Principles and Elements of Public Worship

“The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are
few. Therefore, beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers
into His harvest.” Harvester Overview:
Jesus bade us to lift up our eyes and to look on
the fields. When the Harvest Class responded to Jesus command, they
beheld a field ready for harvest. The prayer of the Harvester Class is
that they would be the fulfillment of their own prayers for workers to
be sent out into His harvest. Class Age:
The composition of the Harvester Class is couples and singles
from age 30 and up. Teachers: Ken
Dewhurst, Phil Dudt, Huck Whitener, and Jim Wolff.
Present Study: The Harvester Class is currently being led through a study of the book of Hebrews.

Led by Leon Combs, Ph.D. (Chemical Physics)
The LIGHT (Living in God’s Hemisphere Today) Sunday School
Class welcomes Christians to come for a serious study of God’s Word
that will help all members live a life committed to their Lord and
Savior Jesus Christ. The class follows a lecture plus interaction
format. Class communication is via email with prayer and praise
requests regularly transmitted among members. Since September 8, 2005,
the class has been studying the history of the Christian church and
completed a study of Acts for that purpose. The class will continue
this study of the Christian church by focusing on other books written
by Paul during his ministry and following their chronological order.
The main purpose of the studies is to determine why problems in
maintaining a God-centered worship occur and how to deal with them. The
class has already studied Romans, James, Ephesians, 1st and 2nd
Thessalonians, and Galatians. Leon’s notes on those studies are located
on his web site http://LivingTheology.com (look
under “commentaries” for those notes). Leon is a scientist with a Ph.D.
in Chemical Physics who taught and administered in universities for 39
years. He has been a Christian since the fall of 1970, has studied
God’s Word extensively since that time, and has taught SS classes in
three different denominations for about 30 years. His spiritual resume
can be read at http://LivingTheology.com/Resume.htm
. Interested members are welcome to join us in the
Parlor for the new study beginning January 27: The Revelation of Jesus Christ
“Be faithful unto death, and I will give you
the crown of life.” Ralph Scott Overview:
Ralph Scott was injured at birth and lived his life of 83
years mentally handicapped. Yet he did not allow his handicap to impede
his faith. His simple child-like faith was such an inspiration to our
senior men that they named their class for him to remind them to be
faithful stewards of the manifold grace of God.
Class Age: The Ralph Scott Class is comprised of
men from age 50 and up. Present Study:
They are currently studying I Peter and meet in F5.

“Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of
witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance, and
the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the
race that is set before us fixing our eyes upon Jesus the author and
perfecter of faith...” Race Runners
Overview: The Racerunners
realize that the Author and Perfecter of Faith has set a race before
us. Their focus is on developing encouraging relationships among young
couples, parents, and singles so that they stimulate each other to lay
aside every encumbrance and entangling sin and to run life’s course
with perseverance. Class Age: This
class is comprised of young couples and singles, primarily in their
20's and 30's. Teachers: This
class is taught by Ed Knox, Scott Keesee, and others. Present
Study: We meet in the Old Sanctuary and are currently studying Romans.
