The Henson family is native to the West Cobb area. Brent was raised in Powder Springs and graduated from McEachern High and Lisa was raised in Kennesaw and graduated from Harrison High. Brent is currently active duty in the Army National Guard and is stationed at Dobbins Air Reserve Base in Marietta. Lisa has the hard job of managing the house and four energetic children.
Brent and Lisa met in the summer of 2002 at a restaurant in Kennesaw where Lisa was working as a waitress and where Brent was a regular patron. They married in January 2004 just a few days prior to Brent being deployed to Kuwait for Operation Iraqi Freedom. The first year of marriage unfortunately they spent apart but they grew very close and gained a special appreciation for one another.
Upon returning from deployment, the Hensons quickly began growing their family with the addition of Nathan in 2006, Isaac in 2007 and Kate in 2009. Three children in the span of three years was a shock but very rewarding. Just when things started to settle down they were surprised to discover that one more child was in the works and Nolan arrived in 2013.
The Henson’s were introduced to Midway by way of Midway Covenant Christian School. During the decision-making process of determining the best choice for their children’s education it was evident that MCCS met the criteria and expectations of reinforcing a Christian world view and challenging academic standards. Upon further exposure to Reformed Theology and attending the Christmas Eve service at Midway it became clear that joining Midway was the direction they were being led.
The Hensons feel at home now in a church like never before as members of Midway. They are extremely thankful and grateful for the reverent worship and expository teaching and preaching that is hard to find today in most churches.
