Dan and Rebecca Gregoire and their seven children began serving with MTW in Slovakia in 2007. Their work has involved church nurturing, providing support for the pastor of a small Slovak church, and helping the congregation establish outreach ministries in the community. They have seen God use their family to develop relationships in the community that draw people into the ministries of the church.
In June of 2010 they relocated to Slovakia’s second biggest city, Kosice, where Dan and Rebecca spent a year in intensive Slovak language study. This crucial year improved their fluency and understanding of the culture and will serve to enhance their ministry. They are now helping to plant new churches in Slovakia, beginning in Kosice.
Slovakia is a highly religious country, and yet the people know very little about Christ. It still reels from the effects of Communism, which caused a generation to grow up who “… did not know the Lord or the work he had done in Israel” (Judges 2:10). The Gregoires are passionate about spending a generation in Slovakia, walking with Slovaks from high school through college, marriage, and family life, teaching them about God and how to live with Christ as the center of life.
