Joe and Bev met at New Life Presbyterian Church in Glenside, Pa., when Joe was completing an M.Div. at Westminster Theological Seminary and Bev was working as a nurse at a Philadelphia hospital. They married, and due to a shared interest in missions, pursued opportunities overseas.
Joe was ordained as a teaching elder by the PCA’s Philadelphia Presbytery in 1998. They joined the MTW Philippines team in Manila in 1999, where Joe taught Old Testament and counseling at Presbyterian Theological Seminary. Upon hearing of ministry needs in Puerto Rico, the homeland of Joe’s mother, the Lord opened the door for a relocation in 2006.
Joe received a D.Min. from Westminster Seminary and is currently teaching in seminaries and church-based study centers in San Juan. Joe has also been invited to teach in some non-Reformed seminaries, and provides Reformed resources for students to use in their own churches. The students are responding positively to his teaching and the materials.
Joe is also helping a nationally-led Reformed movement identify and theologically equip church-planting pastors. The family fellowships at Briarwood Presbyterian Church’s church plant, La Travesía. Occasionally Joe also teaches modular courses for MTW ministries overseas.
